Absolute Launches the Fleet Information System
Absolute has launched a new modular web based platform known as the Fleet Information System.
FIS provides a complete, secure web-based monitoring solution
compatible with all major browsers including Internet
Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. The Fleet Information
System includes modules for registering and tracking ships,
generating reports, and managing permits and licenses. 2D and
3D visualization tools provide an integrated view of the ships
activity, location and past voyages.
This product allows existing and new Absolute clients to bring bring paper-based workflows online; all within a secure state-of-the-art web 2.0 application. Available modules at launch include; Ship Registration Details, Permits and Licenses, Photos/Documents, GPS Track Data, Voyage Capture and Trip Reporting. Several additional modules are also scheduled for rollout during 2011.
Clients who have already committed to upgrading include the South Pacific Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) and the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP); who collectively monitor over 10,000 ships with Absolute's existing SmartTRACâ„¢ product range today.

"In addition, this product expands Absolute's capabilities into many new areas including catch and quota trading, electronic issuance of licensing documents; and provides a solid foundation for our efforts within several emerging fishstock traceability programs."
By the end of 2011, Absolute anticipates that over 35 countries will have adopted The Fleet Information System in some capacity within either their Long-Range Identification & Tracking (LRIT) programs, or for high-seas, domestic and distant water fishing programs.
